Application steps
- Confirm your nationality is on the 49-country list (visa-waiver + tax treaty) and income is ¥10M+
- Buy private medical insurance covering the stay (death/injury/illness coverage of ¥10M+)
- Apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) at a regional immigration bureau, or apply directly at a Japanese embassy with full documents
- With the COE, obtain the visa at the Japanese embassy/consulate in your country
- Enter Japan for up to 6 months; you must leave at expiry; no in-country extension
