Pingtung × Malaysia Workation Plan
A skill-for-stay cross-border program — trade two local workshops for 20-30 days of free coliving, expanding to 6 cohorts in 2026.
Run jointly by Pingtung's independent bookstore Ji.Benwu and Johor, Malaysia's Golden Charity Pawnshop and Rekan Studio, this program pioneered a "trade professional skill for free coliving" model. Professionals aged 18+ (not students) who can work remotely apply with a proposal, relocate for 20-30 days, and run two professional-grade workshops for the local community during their stay — photography, design, or craft, for example. After a successful pilot, the program expanded for 2026: 6 cohorts running July through December, 3 slots per side per cohort, with priority given to locals registered in Pingtung or Johor Bahru.
